Legendary bike manufacturer, Jawa Motorcycles as launched two new motorcycles in our country. Jawa is back with their motorcycles on sale after a hiatus of a long 42 years. The Jawa resembles the original Jawa to the T, including the maroon and golden paint job while on the other hand, the Forty Two is a special edition that celebrates the launch of Jawa in the country after a gap of 42 years. The Jawa motorcycles are a perfect combination of old school charm with modern day mechanicals and electricals.
Both the motorcycles are powered by the 293cc, liquid cooled engine that is based on the Mahindra’s (Classic Legends Private Limited’s parent group) Mojo engine that is mounted on a double cradle frame. The engine develops maximum power of 27bhp and a peak torque of 28Nm mated to a six speed gearbox. As quoted by Jawa, the engine is tuned for maximum torque while the primary focus was to offer the toque between low to mid range.
Both the bikes get twin exhausts and under tank mounted handlebar lock as witnessed on the iconic Jawas back in 1970s. The duo gets disc brake at the front with single channel ABS and drum brake unit at the rear. The bikes are shod with 18inch rims at both ends wrapped with MRF Nylogrip rubber having a 90-section width at front and 120-section at the rear.
The Forty Two comes with blackened single pod cluster, forks, crankcase and mirrors, a flatter and wider handlebar to cater to the younger rider, aspiring to be a part of the Jawa clan. The Jawa on the other hand comes with tonnes of chrome and fenders with golden plating to appeal to the classic Jawa buyers.
