2018 Hyundai Santro –
Hyundai has launched the 2018 Santro at Rs 3.90 lakh for the base D-Lite manual variant while the top of the line Asta manual variant goes up to 5.46 lakh. Hyundai has offered the new Santro with a factory fitted CNG kit as well for the Magna and Sportz variants while the AMT gearbox is also offered with the Magna and Sportz variants only.
The powerhouse –
The 2018 Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1.1 litre, 4-cylinder engine that develops 69PS of maximum power at 5000rpm and a peak torque of 99Nm at 4500rpm for the petrol powered version. The CNG powered variant necessarily gets the same motor but a slightly less power output. The CNG powered variant produces 59PS of maximum power at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 84Nm at 4500rpm. The petrol engine gets an option of a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox unit while the CNG variant gets only the 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Santro is equipped with rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, speed sensing auto door lock system, impact sensing auto door unlock, 6.35cm Multi Information Display (MID), 17.64cm touchscreen audio video system with smartphone navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Mirrorlink and a Swachh can. The car is available in seven colours – Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Stardust, Imperial Beige, Marina Blue, Fiery Red and Diana Green.
Suspensions, brakes and tyres –
Suspension duties are handled by McPherson Struts at the front and coupled torsion beam axle at the rear. The car is brought to halt by disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The new Santro is shod with 13-inch wheels for the D-Lite, Era and Magna variants while the Sportz and the Asta variants get 14-inch wheels.
