Mercedes-Benz will head into 2018 with the relaunch of their classic G-Class, at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit later this month.
At the event, which is to be held on 15 January, Mercedes will not hold a press conference, instead, at the Mercedes-Benz stand at the NAIAS, the German car maker will offer various media programmes, such as interviews, conversations with experts and vehicle walk arounds.
The off-road legend will undergo the biggest makeover in its history while at the same time remaining true to itself, says its maker.
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Mercedes says, impresses under all conditions with its performance, state-of-the-art assistance systems for safety and comfort, superb handling and a reinterpretation of its iconic design.
Mercedes-Benz will present the vehicle at the traditional New Year’s Reception on the eve of the first press day. The vehicle will also be live streamed on Mercedes me media.
A classic off-road legend and the ultimate benchmark for many fans of cross-country driving, the G-Class has sold more than 3 lakh examples since its launch in 1979.
Outwardly, the ‘G’ has changed very little, instead having to do away with a soft nip-n-tuck for many years now. With its completely updated interior and numerous new features, the G-Class is said to have undergone the most significant transformation of its almost 40-year existence, in technical as well as stylistic terms, while still managing to stay true to itself.
