India’s leading passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki, has sold a total of 130,066 units in December 2017.
The figure is inclusive of domestic and export markets, where the manufacturer grew at 10.3% over the same period in 2016.
Domestic sales stood at 119,286 units in December 2017, while the figure for the same period the year before was at 117,908 units.
Domestic sales was boosted by the van segment which houses the Omni and Eeco that saw a 23.8% growth, selling11, 420 units. The next highest growth was from the compact hatchbacks segment, that has the Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire that saw a 23.2% growth in that particular segment, having sold 53,336 units.
There was de-growth as well, with the mid-size segment that has the Ciaz, selling 35.8% lesser than the year before. The negative growth came across in exports as well, with 6.2% fewer exports done on that month.
Till December 2017 of the current fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki has sold 12,26,418 units, which is a 15.5% growth over the same period the year before.
