Volvo India has launched the 2018 model year Volvo XC60 here with prices starting at Rs 55.90 lakh.
First shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the XC60 is the bread and butter product of Volvo globally.
It is the fourth product to use the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform after the XC90, S90 and V90.
Powering the new Volvo XC60 is a sole 2.0-litre D5 diesel engine that has more power output than the Swedish carmaker’s flagship SUV, the XC90. Power figures stand at 235bhp and 480Nm, which is respectively, 10bhp and 60Nm more than what the motor makes in the XC90.
The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD is standard. Eco, City and Dynamic are the three riding modes, each of which are specified to alter responses from the suspension and the way the car handles.
Volvo has played it safe when it comes to design as the SUV looks like a shrunk XC90, with the Thor Hammer DRLs present and right. Volvo seems to be following a design language, much like Audi in recent times and this seems to be the case in the interior of the car.
The 9-inch touchscreen does away with a smear of buttons that were present on the previous generation car and it comes with now expected as standard equipment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features include Nappa leather upholstery, a Bowers and Wilkins sound system, heated & cooled front seats with massage function, heated rear seats. There is also the option to specify a panoramic sunroof at additional cost.
The car can also be had with with air-suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display, ESC and adaptive cruise control aong with a whole host of safety aids like Rear Collision Warning, Pilot Assist, Blind Spot Information with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert (BLIS).
Customers can also choose from four exterior colours and three interior color schemes.
