2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport launched, aimed at pleasing computer geeks


Priced at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the affordable SUV from the staple of the Tata owned company will see to that the SUV does not fall far behind its competition.

The new model comes with the updated version of the automaker’s in-house developed InControl Pro services that features voice recognition, 3D maps, Touch Pro and driver assistance features. It works alongside the existing InControl Apps.

The InControl Pro Services includes a route planner app, a commute mode and the functionality to share the time of arrival. The route planner app lets it user to sync routes from an Android or iOS device to the car’s navigation system.

There is now a Wi-Fi hotspot that can provide high-speed internet access to eight devices at any given time through a dedicated SIM card.

There are no changes apart from the aforementioned details. The car comes powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine that can be had with two states of tune, with 147bhp and 380Nm of torque for the lower spec car. While the top models will get the same engine with 30 more horsepower and 20 more torques. Land Rover’s famed ‘Terrain Response’ system is available, as is the option to have your car with a couple of 8-inch screens to keep the rear passengers entertained. The SUV is available in four trim levels.
